Der aktuelle Teil OOTP25 ist auf Steam zurzeit für 9.99€ zu haben

Vor kurzem kam der finale Patch für das Spiel raus, jetzt geht es in den nächsten Entwicklungszyklus.

Der Gründer von OOTP, Markus Heinsohn aus Hamburg wird nicht mehr dabei sein. Nach 25 Jahren als Entwickler und Leiter von OOTP Developments hat er vor kurzem seinen Rückzug aus der Firma bekannt gegeben.

Wird spannend zu sehen, ob sich die Ausrichtung von OOTP in Zukunft ändern wird, mehr in Richtung Microtransactions. Ist rein spekulativ, ist aber der Trend in der Sportspielbranche, dem Markus immer gut entgegengewirkt hat, weil ihm das Offline-Spiel genau so wichtig war, wie Perfect Team (dem Ultimate Team Spielmodus in OOTP)

Ich habe der Realität in meinem The Show Save schon einmal vorgegriffen.

Nach dem vielversprechenden Start in Saison 1 gab es leider nach 80 Spielen ein paar Verletzungsprobleme im Pitching Staff. Gausman und Berrios waren für den Rest der Saison raus. Da man zu dem Zeitpunkt auch nur im Wildcard Rennen war, wurde um die Deadline herum verkauft. Aber da man in diesen Deals auch Budget frei machen konnte, ohne an Bichette oder Vlad heranzugehen war klar das man in der Free Agency viel Geld haben wird.

Hab gestern mehr oder weniger aus Langeweile mal wieder ein altes Orioles Save von 2021 rausgeholt und einfach nur ein 9 Inning Game im Yankee Stadium gespielt. Hatte schon ganz verdrängt, wie unendlich entspannt das ist. Das hat mich wieder total abgeholt. Startest die Konsole, spielst ne halbe Stunde und machst sie danach wieder aus. Großartig.

Jetzt hab ich wieder voll Lust auf das Spiel, bin aber in der Zwickmühle, dass das neue The Show (mit Verbesserungen für den Franchise Modus) erst in ca. 2-3 Monaten rauskommt

Würde das auf deiner Liste stehen, sodass man sich auch mal Online duellieren könnte, oder hast du das Spiel mitgenommen weils im PS Plus Abo war?

Also ich werde beim Neuen sicher Day 1 dabei sein, wenn auch nur für die meditative Behandlung die du da beschreibst.

Online wird bei mir leider nicht funktionieren, da ich die Konsole nur per W-Lan verbinde und das leider zu instabil ist für solche präzise Eingaben wie beim Hitting.

Da wird es bei mir wieder auf reinen Franchise Modus hinauslaufen.

Releasedatum ist der 18.03.2025.
und die vielleicht beste Nachricht: Nach 5 Jahren lässt man die Old-Gen endlich hinter sich. Das Spiel wird für die PS5, XBox Series X/S und die Switch kommen und dieses Jahr nicht über einen Subsciption Service (Gamepass usw.) spielbar sein.

Der erste Gameplay Trailer kommt am 4. Februar.

Das Problem ist: Es wurde schon bestätigt, dass es Crossplay mit der Switch Version geben kann. Ich hatte ja erst vermutet, dass sie da wie bei FIFA einfach die alte Version mit neuen Kadern auf die Switch bringen. Aber wenn beide die gleiche Version bekommen, macht mich das dann doch wieder skeptischer.

Das Cover ist aber sehr schick.

Ich plane natürlich auch schon wieder mein Franchise Team wie so ein irrer, gerade klicke ich mich jeden Tag durch die Depth Chart Projections bei Fangraphs.

Tendenziell geht es stark Richtung Diamond Backs, weil ich deren Moves bisher sehr mag und Ketel Marte ist wahrscheinlich mein Lieblingsspieler in der Liga gerade.

Alternativen wären die Cubs oder Twins. Da sind die Divisions so offen und es gibt genug gute Spieler um die es sich sehr gut bauen lässt. Aber das ändert sich sicher noch ungefähr 100 Mal.

Das wäre natürlich extrem bescheuert. Ich bin auch davon ausgegangen, dass die Switch nur noch ein Roster Update bekommt und die PS5/Xbox auf New Gen gehoben wird. Wenn man weiter mit der Switch Crossplayen könnte, hätte man ja auch die PS4 weiter bedienen können.

Im Text zur Ankündigung findet man nur das:

Wenn die Cross Platform Progression wirklich nur die Karten im Diamond Dynasty sind, wäre das ja auch mit einer Old-Gen Version für die Switch möglich.

Der Text im Playstation Store macht aber noch Hoffnung. Nicht nur, dass man in Road to the Show vielleicht in der High School und im College (auf dem Cover ist bei Skenes das LSU Logo zu sehen) spielen kann, der Satz „designed from the ground up“ könnte vielleicht wirklich auf eine neue Engine hinweisen.

Schauen wir mal, bin schon ziemlich gespannt auf den ersten Gameplay Trailer am Dienstag.

Das kriegt alles ein großes „Meh“ von mir. Keine neue Grafikengine, der Franchise Modus bleibt einmal mehr quasi unangetastet und darf sich seine Feature Premiere mit den Negro League Storylines teilen und „ShowTec“ klingt nach dem typischen Bullshit-Marketing von Sportvideoherstellern, wenn etwas längst vorhandenes als neu und toll verkauft werden soll.

Wahrscheinlich werde ich es mir holen, aber ich hatte nach der Ankündigung die alten Konsolen fallen zu lassen schon mehr erwartet.

Road to the Show wird ein neues Perk & Progression System haben, welches sich stärker an frühere Teile anlehnt.

Man startet bereits in der High School und kann sich dort entscheiden, ob man direkt in den Draft geht und sich durch die Minor Leagues grindet, oder aufs College geht. Die Auswahl des Colleges wiederum gibt unterschiedliche Boni auf deinen Spieler, was sich auf die Draftposition und Stats auswirkt. In einem Draft Combine kann man dann auch nochmal auf sich aufmerksam machen und seine Position verbessern.

Klingt auf jeden Fall so, als ob man endlich mal ein bisschen an diesem Modus gearbeitet hat

MLB The Show 25 - Official Franchise Front Office Experience Overview Trailer

Jetzt war der Franchise Modus dran. Hier wurden natürlich wieder wie üblich einige Buzz Words herumgeworfen was Vertrags- und Tradelogik angeht aber tatsächlich gab es dann ja noch einen 90 minütigen Stream wo diese dann auch wirklich gezeigt wurden und vor allem bewiesen das sie funktionieren:

• Big Market Teams haben einen klaren Vorteil mit FA, also kein Soto zu den Rockies mehr(Tucker ging in dem Beispiel am Ende zu den Dodgers)
• Spielerverträge für den spielenden sind auch schwieriger, es musste schon überbezahlt werden wenn der Spieler kein grundsätzliches Interesse hatte aufgrund der Team Situation(Rebuild, Konkurrenz, teilweise der Ort bei Vlade der kein Interesse hatte nach Texas zu ziehen)
• Trades und Signings sahen dadurch viel besser aus, weil die Einschätzung der Spieler wirklich mehr Wert hat
• Teams signen wirklich nur Spieler wenn sie Bedarf auf der Position haben

Eine Kleinigkeit die mir dann noch aufgefallen ist: In den letzten Jahren wurden aufgrund Vertragsschwierigkeiten neue Spieler aus Übersee erst nach Opening Day hinzugefügt, aber zumindest Sasaki war gestern schon kurz zu sehen.
Dazu die ganzen Spielerein bei der Präsentation was neue Grafiken angeht und ich bin ehrlich gesagt schon zufrieden.

Ich hab ja jetzt schon ein paar Jahre nicht mehr gespielt, aber was ich so lese klingt eher vernichtend.

Dieses neue Free Agency System hat so ja vorher schon in March to October bzw. im Draft existiert und wurde jetzt einfach nur in den Franchise Modus reinkopiert. Dazu im Hintergrund ein paar Regler verstellt („improved logic“ hört man jedes Jahr) und fertig ist der Lack. Dass Superstars tendenziell jetzt eher bei den Big Market Teams landen ist schon cool und richtig, aber ich warte erstmal noch ab ob das wirklich so funktioniert.
Wenn Guerrero in Echt wie in diesem Video $27.6m über 7 Jahre fordern würde, hätten die Blue Jays ihn jedenfalls schon längst verlängert.

Abseits von der „neuen“ Free Agency gibt es keine Veränderungen?

Man kann weiterhin maximal 3 Spieler traden, es gibt keine Opt-Outs, keine No-Trade Clauses, die Bullpen Logik ist nicht nachvollziehbar, es gibt keine International Free Agency, alle „Ausländer“ kommen also über den HighSchool/College Draft, Progression und Regression ist nicht realistisch, der Spielplan bleibt jedes Jahr gleich uvm.

Ich glaube dieses Spiel hat mittlerweile das selbe Problem wie Madden und Co.: Ein historisch gewachsener Spaghetti Code, durch den kein Mensch mehr durchsteigt und der deshalb auch nicht mehr groß verändert werden kann. Würdest du das alles mal neumachen wollen, endest du wahrscheinlich wie der Football Manager und es funktioniert gar nichts mehr.

Ich werd den Franchise Mode sicherlich anspielen, aber ich hab schon so eine Befürchtung, dass es mich nicht langfristig motivieren wird.

Früher oder später bin ich sicher wieder am Start, denke aber ich werde anfangs erstmal mit The Show beschäftigt sein

Ich habe ja das letzte Wochenende schon ausgiebig mit dem neuen The Show verbracht, also so knapp 15 Spiele.

Positiv

• Das ganze sieht schon besser aus als im letzten Jahr. Die Trikots wirken lebendiger, das Licht ist besser, es gibt einige neue Animationen. Natürlich ist der Sprung bei einem jährlich Release nicht zu groß, aber ich finde es ist schon eine Entwicklung zu sehen
• das neue Grafikpaket für den Franchise Mode ist schon cool. Vergleiche der Pitcher, Schedule, Rückblick auf einzelne Spieler im Laufe einer Serie. Man kann vor dem Spiel meistens eine Story auswählen aus einer Liste, die dann im Laufe des Spiels beobachtet wird. Schönes kleines Feature für die Präsentation
• der Sound im Stadion wirkt schon besser. Am besten ist der Klang eines perfekten Hits, das wirkt schon mächtig.
• Sasaki und Kim sind bereits zu Release im Spiel, selbst Korea Rückkehrer Kyle Hart bei den Padres obwohl er letztes Jahr nicht mehr drin war
• es gibt einige coole Kameraspielerein bei den Replays. Homeruns aus der Umpire Cam, mehrere Winkel bei Strikeouts, Blick auf den Pitcher bei einem No-Doubt Homer. Wirklich sehr viel Abwechslung
• das Gameplay macht schon wieder echt Laune, ich wüsste nicht was es da zu verbessern gibt

Negativ

• immer noch zu viele komplette Spiele im Franchise Mode. Gestern kam noch einmal ein Patch, der verbessert zumindest spürbar die Bullpen Nutzung. Aber wenn ein Pitcher ein gutes Spiel hat, geht er ziemlich sicher nicht raus
• es gibt eine neue PA Announcerin, die klingt sehr seltsam weil sie so im Vordergrund ist in der Soundmischung
• Das Bullpen Menü ist „neu“ und sieht damit eher nach PS2 Spiel aus. Und auch keine Kamera mehr im Bullpen
• kaum Bank, Coaches oder Bullpen Aufnahmen mehr im Spiel
• der Newsticker im Franchise ist verbuggt, die einzelnen Ergebnisse überlappen sich. Sollte schon gepatcht sein, aber der regionale Bereich stimmt immer noch nicht
• leider sehr wenig neue Facescans. Extrem bei Prospects, aber auch bei etablierten Spielern. Bowden Francis hat zum Beispiel immer noch ein Standard-Gesicht. Castellanos hat immernoch kurze Haare.
• andere japanische Neuzugänge fehlen leider doch wieder

Es bockt also schon sehr da wo es ankommt, aber irgendwie hat man das Gefühl das noch so viel Potenzial liegen gelassen wird.

Okay, der Patch hat scheinbar wirklich was gebracht. Ich hatte ein furchtbares Spiel gegen die Tigers, in dem mich Skubal komplett zerlegt hat(6 Innings, 7 Strikeouts, 2 Hits, 0 Runs) und er wurde nicht drin gelassen. Früher wäre das definitiv ein complete Game geworden, oder er hätte mit leerer Energie noch 2 Innings gepitcht bis ich mal einen HR gegen ihn schlage.

Danach habe ich nochmal in den Ligastatistiken geschaut und tatsächlich kam nach dem Patch kein Complete Game dazu.

Egal was sie da gemacht haben, es funktioniert.

Ich bin echt noch hin- und hergerissen. Bock hab ich definitiv, allerdings auch generell noch viel zu zocken momentan und dann gibt’s da halt auch noch OOTP26. Bei der Menge an aktuellen Spielen würde MLB oder OOTP zu kurz kommen, beide parallel wie die letzten Jahre würde ich wohl nicht hinbekommen.
